Also, interested to hear that people from Oklahoma refer to themselves as “Oakies” which now sounds an affectionate term. From reading “The Grapes of Wrath” I had assumed that this was a derogatory term from people who didn’t welcome the migration to California. Obviously need to go back and have another look.
